Last week we brought you the painfully uncomfortable video of teen idol Zac Efron dropping a condom on the red carpet for his new movie, Dr. Suess’ The Lorax. His awkward giggle and clearly raised heart rate was enough to convince us that it was an honest mistake, and not some weird attempt at distancing himself from his wholesome image (although the fact that it was a Magnum condom DOES raise a few eyebrows).

It appears other news outlets were just as entertained by the red carpet mishap, as the star was interviewed by Matt Lauer on Today about the incident yesterday morning. Efron had the perfect response, admitting that yes, he DID in fact drop a condom, but hey, safe sex is “a great message to add to the many messages of the film.”

We applaud Zac and his frankness about the incident, as it appears to be a trend among young adult stars (we’re looking at you, Justin Bieber!) to pretend that their fans aren’t having sex and telling them to be abstinent, when in today’s world that fairly unreasonable. Team Efron!
