Work Hangovers Increase During the World Cup
Anyone else battling a Revolutionary War-sized hangover today? It’s never fun trying to work after a holiday… and there’s just more of that on the horizon: with the highly anticipated Women’s World Cup coming this weekend, we’re getting excited to wake up early on Sunday and cheer on Team USA… but we’re NOT looking forward to Monday morning when either celebrating the win or mourning the loss leads to one rough workday hangover. And it’s not just us – according to a survey, Brits can barely keep up their work during World Cup season.
A UK survey showed that during the World Cup, most Brits show up to work about 3 times a month with a headache, upset stomach, and fatigue — and not because they’re sick, because they went out drinking the night before. Every day, an average of 520,000 come to work hungover, and almost one in five of those poor, hungover souls say they struggle to keep up with their workload because of it.
How do we solve this? Well, we guess you could probably limit your booze intake during World Cup season, but on the other hand, we just think they should turn the day after the Final into a holiday. Agreed? Agreed.
