As a chick born and raised in the glorious land known as California, I have, for quite sometime, known that this side of the country is exponentially cooler than the other side. I mean, I spent a bit of time in New York after high school, and yeah, that city is pretty bad ass, but basically when it comes down to the stuff that matters (i.e. attractiveness of the population, entertainment and things to do, weather, and coolness of your governor’s nickname), California and our nearby associates take the award for Best.

This was further exemplified by an OkCupid blog post, where they documented and discussed “10 Charts About Sex,” which detailes their users preferences in everything from whether they’d have sex on the first date, to if they like rough sex, and the odds that they would masturbate today compared to whether or not they use Twitter. The results of one chart were especially revealing:

LOOK AT THAT. LOOK AT THAT! OkCupid asked whether or not their users would date someone just for the sex, and the statistics are pretty divided!

Based on that chart, we can assume that the west coast is far more open with their sexuality and understand that “dating” doesn’t always have to segue into marriage or even a long term relationship. Instead, dating could mean spending some time with someone with whom you have some sort of connection, including a solely sexual one.

In the middle and much of the opposite side of the country, though – wow. Looks like a lot of y’all northeasterners are still stuck in your traditionalist ways… probably dating people just because you both like brie or something. Ick.

It’s unfortunate too, cause a lot of you are pretty good looking. Sucks.
