Weekend To-Dos: Reliving Your Childhood
Alright fine. I chose this topic for one reason and one reason only. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HOLLOWS PART ONE IS IN THEATERS TODAY, YOU GUYS. My Hermione costume is out of storage (front of my closet) and dusted off (there wasn’t any dust on it) and ready to be worn tonight to my excited viewing of the newest movie installment of my favorite book series of all time. There is just something about reliving childhood excitement that gives us a type of joy that 40 hour a week jobs smash out of us like pre-cannibalism Mike Tyson. So this week, in celebration of my own childhood excitement, I give you the Three Things You Have to Do This Weekend: Reliving Your Childhood Edition.
1) Yes, I have to say it, see Harry Potter (or Megamind, I guess)
Look, even if you haven’t ever seen the other ones, Harry Potter is one of the most awesome, fanciful stories ever told before. And compared to other recent supernatural movies (cough cough TWILIGHT cough cough) it is not a horrifically written super-soft-core porn engineered for chubby twelve year old girls. This series is quality, from the storyline and plot, to the acting and special effects. You will not be disappointed. Plus we can totally have a sleepover after and talk about how good it was and how we wish we could get OUR letter from Hogwarts! Just kidding! Sort of! (Oh, and if you’re boring and the worst, just go see Megamind. I heard that was good too. I guess.)
2) ICE SKAAAATIIIIING
3) Microsoft Kinect
Okay, I know this is a pricey investment, and I am not one to push video games on people but OH MY GOD THIS THING IS SO FUN. Dance Central (pictured above) is my favorite, but there are a bunch of other games (like an NFL training one that I know you Fantasy Footballers would LOVE) that can get anyone in the mood to play. Plus, it’ll make halftime this Sunday go by way quicker, and dance parties with your friends in your living room will bring you back to childhood reminiscence faster than you can say “Hey now, you’re a rockstar.”
Monday will be here fast with an ice cold reminder that you’re an adult and the most exciting part of your week is getting a Netflix DVD in the mail, so enjoy this weekend! Be a kid! And fight on, Weekend Warriors!
