Weekend To-Dos: NERD TIME
Winter is back in San Diego and it’s like 65 outside so basically freezing so I’m not going to brag this week about living in San Diego. Because it’s freezing? Is it freezing where you live too? I bet it is. I bet it’s like, 65 degrees out, and freezing. Right? Right Chicago? Like 65 degrees?
Anyway, like I said. Not gonna brag. This weekend, we’re gonna plan on doing some fun, safe stuff that won’t get anyone in trouble. So, basically nerd stuff. Here are your BCU weekend must-dos.
1) SEE TRON: LEGACY
LIGHTCYCLES!
OLIVIA WILDE IN SKIN TIGHT LATEX!
JEFF DANIELS NOT IN SKIN TIGHT LATEX!
There you go. I gave you three reasons right there to go buy tickets for the Friday night showing of Tron: Legacy, the sequel to the 1982 film Tron. You’ll note that although the film is in 3D, I did not mention that as a reason to go see the movie, because 3D is totally played out and over-used and not that exciting and also those glasses hurt my nose.
2) Make your own Christmas gifts
Look, we live in a tough economy right now. And while we all love giving gifts and showing out appreciation for friends and family, money can be tight. So chill on the couch with a Christmas movie and a bottle of wine and start crafting (yes, crafting, I said crafting, I TOLD YOU IT’S NERD WEEKEND). For moms and grandmas (aka people who still think you’re cute) you can make this fun ornaments that look and even smell like bacon. In my case, I forwent the sewing because haha, no thanks, and used fabric glue instead. And for dads and friends with the taste for liquor, make yourself some small bottles of infused vodka… try hot peppers, those are perfect for Bloody Marys!
3) Make your Sunday football grub using Molecular Gastronomy
I always imagine that my Monday hangovers would be less potent if I would just cool it on the grease-laden fatty-ass foods that I tend to consume at alarming speeds on Sunday afternoons. So this Sunday, take a page out of Molecular Gastronomist Wylie Dufresne’s book and try an interesting, lighter twist on football snacks, like the delicious-sounding “Pizza Pebbles.” Wired has a bunch of interesting recipes, so grab your lab coat and super-thick goggles and get cooking, NERD.
That does it for this week’s installment of Weekend Must-Dos. Weekend Warriors, GO FORTH!
