Virtual Sex Tips
It’s Friday, and while that used to mean planning for a sexy weekend fling from OBC, in August 2020 it may mean getting ready for a little virtual hook up (still with a sexy single from OBC, obvs). If you’ve been too nervous to try virtual sex, are curious about it, or have been doing it religiously and want to spice it up a bit, follow these tips from the experts over at HuffPo:
1. Be sure to set boundaries first.
“Before you get down to business, it’s essential to get consent from each other, communicate your boundaries and discuss expectations — just as you would (or should!) with sex IRL.”
2. Take cyber safety into account.
“Keep devices up to date (note that your smartphone may be more secure than your laptop), opt for an end-to-end encrypted platform like Signal, use an anonymous email that’s not tied to your name for any app signups, choose strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication, and disguise any identifying characteristics, like your face, tattoos or surroundings.”
3. Set the mood.
“Wear something sexy, light candles or play some romantic background music,” sex expert Ashley Cobb said. “By setting the mood, it will help you get more into it. Sex is mental first! Once you set the scene and get your head in the game, your body will follow.”
4. Use good lighting to your advantage.
“Lighting can make a huge difference, especially, since virtual sex is largely visual,” said sexuality educator Goody Howard. “Lighting reduces shadows that can cloud the best parts of online sex play.”
5. Use a tripod
“With anything virtual, you need the proper equipment, and virtual sex is no different,” Cobb said. “Having a tripod is a must because you want to be hands-free and you need your phone or tablet to be in a stationary position.”
