The Diamond Encrusted Porsche
A couple days ago I received a bridal shower invitation in the mail that had Swarovski crystals embedded in the paper, and I remember thinking, “well THIS seems excessive.” Little did I know that just on the other side of the world there was someone taking actual DIAMONDS, crushing them up, turning them into paint, and covering a Porsche with them.
According to TheDailyMail, German Porche-tuner Gemballa has taken the already sexy Porsche and made it even more over-the-top, by covering it in diamonds, LITERALLY.
‘When Gemballa peaks of diamonds, we really mean it’, explains CEO Andreas Schwarz. ‘Our complex process uses genuine diamonds as its key ingredient – not metal pigments, glass fragments, or crystals.’
The paint is made from diamonds ground down to a dust that still sparkles, so it can be applied to cars like a paint. The German company claims that the sheer number of tiny diamonds in the coating leads to an ‘incomparable’ shine.
The car, which as of yet is still in its demo-version (the real one would have to have windows you could see out of), has yet to gain a price tag, but we imagine it’ll cost somewhere between “don’t even think about it” and “never gonna happen.”
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go cry into my cereal.
