Polluted Beach Pin-Ups
Yesterday marked the 70th day of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. With each day that passes, more animals are killed, more ecosystems are destroyed, more Americans are losing jobs in the seafood industry. 5,000 (WTF) barrels of oil a day are pumped into ocean, like some someone popped the cork off a bottle of death-and-destruction Dom Perignon. You can see live footage of the spill here.
This is genuinely a catastrophe for our times, and we can only hope that sooner than later, someone, somewhere, is able to come up with a legitimate idea to end it, that doesn’t involve throwing trash or golf balls at it.
Until then, here are some photos from the Surfrider Foundation‘s Polluted Beach Pin Up Calendar. Go to their site to do your part!
