Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize
President Barack Obama was announced as the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize amidst a wave of criticism. Many are saying that President Obama has not achieved enough in his short time in office to warrant such a high honor. While others argue that the purpose of awarding President Obama was to “recognize hopeful promise over concrete achievement.”
“I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments but rather an affirmation of American leadership,” the President was quoted by Reuters.com. “I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.”
Regardless of the controversy, this is a great honor for our President and country. We just hope President Obama’s message of hope doesn’t get interrupted by Kanye West.
