NOOO, DROGBA! NOOO!
Bad news, Ivory Coast fans.
Didier Drogba, your inspiring captain who I most recently described as “big, strong, and fast” has… *sniff*… a broken arm, and will most likely not play in the the World Cup.
According to the AP, he’s had surgery and has returned to training camp, but the team will wait until next Monday (only one day before their first match against Portugal) to decide if he will play, or if they will replace their beloved captain.
Drogba’s injury comes from a warm up match last Friday, when the “forward was injured in a collision with Japan defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka.”
This has been your heavy-hearted WC2K10 report of the day.
:( :( :(
Don’t worry though — to cheer you up, tomorrow’s World Cup update will feature a much more pleasing subject: the hottest exports from host country South Africa. See you then!

:( This is so sad. I speak for all Ivorians (and Elephant fans) when I say…can’t we just put off the whole thing? :'(

A world cup without a true legend like Drogba is very sad. Drogba could have taken Ivory Coast to the final rounds.
