Fan Presenter Awkward Moment at the BET Awards
I saw this story yesterday, but was so overwhelmed by a sense of second-hand embarrassment that I couldn’t bring myself to post it. Now that the dust has settled a bit and I feel less like throwing up, I figured I’d share this little gem.
According to TMZ, BET invited a few “super-fans” to present awards at the BET awards on Saturday, but one unlucky lady presented more of an “AWKWARD,” when she flubbed her lines and accidentally read “Rihanna and Drake” instead of “Chris Brown,” who was supposed to win. Apparently, Tiffany Green was supposed to read the winner off the iPad 2 they had her holding, but she instead read off the teleprompter, which for some reason listed the wrong winner.
Drake came up to accept the award, made a uncomfortable statement about the whole thing being awkward, and left the stage. At the end of the show, a BET rep came out to announce that Chris Brown was the true winner, and that the whole debacle was due to “human error.”
Later that night, the fan presenter tweeted, “Bawling backstage. They totally f—ed me up.”
Maybe so, but we have a feeling your career as an award presenter is O – V – E – R.
