Monogamy Trailer
I’m not usually one for dark, dramatic, human-psyche-gone-wild type of movies. They usually fail to capture my attention, and sometimes feel condescending and a**hole-ish (see: Black Swan and The Number 23). That’s probably just me being stupid and “not getting it,” but hey, it’s the reason my Netflix queue is full of comic book movies and 90s comedies. Me no like think hard during picture show!
However, this film by David Alan Shapiro, titled Monogamy, looks like it might be a drama I’d actually be interested in. It analyzes a subject we are no stranger to at BCU: whether or not true monogamy is possible.
You can probably tell that we at OBC tend to lean towards the idea that human beings aren’t really engineered to be monogamous, and it looks like this film might share our idea. The 2010 movie premiered at the Tribeca film fest, and is about to be released on DVD.
The synopsis, from DirectorsLive:
A photographer bored with his day job as a wedding photographer sets up an unconventional side business providing a service for clients who hire him to stalk them with his camera. But things start to get uncomfortable when he becomes obsessed with a mysterious new client of his that puts his impending marriage at jeopardy. The film stars Chris Messina as well as Rashida Jones from Parks and Rec.
And the trailer:
Kinda sounds interesting, right? Like maybe you might add it to your Netflix list and watch 5 or 10 minutes of it before you turn it off and put Dumb and Dumber back on?
