Mile High Club App
Happy Friday! As winter drags most of America into some sort of 2014 Ice Age, we at OBC have started day dreaming about flying south for the rest of the season (even though San Diego’s still hovering around 60 degrees). Maui, Cancun, Aruba, Bali – any of these places are sure to be less bone-chilling than North America.
On the other hand, no one likes flying. It’s cramped and stifling and you’re breathing everyone else’s nasty peanut breath. However, with this new app “Wingman,” which operates like the popular Tinder, connects you with other users on your flight in case you wanna get your in-air flirtation on.
Users create a profile with their picture, first name, age, occupation, flight number and the airline they’re traveling with, and winkingly, whether they’re traveling for business or pleasure. The app displays a list of travelers on the same flight, and if you find one attractive, you can opt to start a conversation.
“I think it will make people curious, and you never know: someone might use it, and it might start a conversation that they might not have otherwise had,” Whaley says. “It could turn out to be really good, or really bad. Either way, I think it’s really funny.”
Whaley concedes that it’s “incredibly unrealistic” that people will use his app as a matchmaking service for having sex while flying, but believes it’s a worthwhile endeavor anyway. “Whether they go through with it or not has nothing to do with the app,” he says. “It has everything to do with them. ”
Wingman is still in beta currently, but you can sign up to be alerted when the app is released, hopefully in April – just in time for Spring Break flights to Cancun.
Or, you know, you could go for a sure thing and just sign into your OBC account and find someone to spend these freezing nights with. We’re sure there are a few horny folks in the vicinity ;)
