Marcus Camby Denies Weed in Car Was His
With the decriminalization of marijuana in California, I feel like we’re all collectively starting to realize that weed isn’t exactly the life-ruining hardcore drug that our the government wants us to believe it is. It’s not a “gateway” drug anymore than booze is, and the closest it comes to destroying lives is allowing foods like this to exist (ed note: it definitely ruins lives in Mexico, where marijuana cartels cause death and destruction at every corner, but that could be changed by legalizing marijuana and bringing production of the plant to America instead of relying on an unstable country with corrupt government and police force, but that’s another story for a never time).
Needless to say, when NBA star Marcus Camby was pulled over on Monday for an equipment violation, he probably wished he was in Cali instead of Texas, because he was booked on marijuana possession after cops found a stash of pot under the passenger seat. According to the police report, Camby denied the weed was his, despite the cops’ claim that the search happened because the whole car reeked of pot. Via TheWashingtonPost:
Camby and another person inside, Kendal Johnson, were arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana in a drug-free zone because the arrest occurred near a school. Both were released on individual $2,000 bonds.
To be fair, two grand is a drip in the bucket to this 15-year veteran of the NBA, but still – when are we going to nationally decriminalize marijuana so a 37-year-old man doesn’t have to act like a 13-year-old kid when someone finds a plant in his car? “NUH UHHHHHH, I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHOSE THAT IS, I SWEEEEEAAARRRR, MOMMMMMM!!”
