Man Murders Wife By Disabling Airbag
HELLO, EVERYONE, and welcome to our very first edition of “GOOD CHOICE, BAD CHOICE.” This week – HOW TO END AN UNHAPPY MARRIAGE.
This morning, we met our contestant for “GOOD CHOICE” – Stewart Rahr and his method: getting a divorce, then having an orgy with three women in the back of a limo and sending it to all your contacts. What a great choice! It celebrates the end of a sad period, shows you are available and ready for the future, and is also HILARIOUS.
Iain Lawrence, our contestant for “BAD CHOICE,” on the other hand, is probably not as stoked on life as Mr. Rahr, mainly because he’s beginning the first of his 24 years behind bars for murdering his wife by disabling her airbag and then driving into a tree… on purpose. BAD CHOICE, Mr. Lawrence. Bad choice.
Via Gawker:
“It was not chance but the result of your careful and cold- blooded planning that you came away from the collision with a few bruises while Sally died of catastrophic injuries,” Mr Justice Leggatt said. “You thought that the crash would be seen as a tragic accident and that you would get away with murder.”
Prosecutors successfully showed that Lawrence had ensured that the passenger-side airbag in his Peugeot 406 was deactivated before he either tricked or forced Sally to get in.
After a short drive, Lawrence then drove straight into a tree at 50mph, unclipping Sally’s seat belt just prior to the crash.
Apparently, 53-year-old Mr. Lawrence and his wife were, like Stewart Rahr and his wife, going through a nasty divorce – nasty enough that Sally (his wife) confided in friends that she thought he might kill her. It’s also reported that he “feigned unconsciousness” when police arrived at the car wreck scene despite only have a few cuts and bruises. The whole thing was a big, unfortunate, BAD CHOICE.
Sorry, Mr. Lawrence. Try again next time (when you’re out of jail at age 77)!
