Macklemore’s Public Text to Kendrick Lamar: WTF or FTW?
We already covered the most important part of the Grammys yesterday, but we did want to bring up this little deet that happened after the show and ask what our readers think about it. As we mentioned yesterday, we were pretty surprised that The Rapping Ginger beat out Kendrick Lamar for best rap album. Sure, we like Macklemore… “Thrift Shop” was a fun song that we may or may not have on our workout mix, and we give him props for his LGBT support in a community not normally known for being super open-minded.
However, the truth is that Macklemore should NOT have won best rap album, and even he knew it. Which, I guess, is why he posted this screenshot to Instagram:
Reactions to his publicly sharing this text are torn – some say it’s a sweet gesture showing humility and respect for a fellow artist, and others think it was in bad taste, and that if he REALLY believed what he said, then he’d have said all that on stage, or HELL – even just texting that message without needing to share it to his 2.6 million followers.
What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

The sincerity of his ‘message to Kendrik Lamar’ May or may not be ginuwine. It’s not easily deciphered, but I have to admit that it, from an outsider’s vantage point, it seems in bad taste. Especially considering that he said himself that he ‘was going to say all of that on stage’, but failed to do so. Him mentioning his ‘Message to Kendrik’ on KENDRIK’S Instagram Page seems as though it’s a PR move. I don’t watch Award Shows anymore. I stopped watching tha kind of stuff about 7 or 8 years ago.
