Lil B: “I’m Gay”
If there is one statement you’d never expect, it would be “I’m a gay, heterosexual male,” but it’s officially been said by Lil B. According to Jezebel, the rapper, who has songs called “I’m God” and “I’m Miley Cyrus” released an album titled “I’m Gay,” which has sparked quite an uproar. When asked if he was actually gay (because you know, the whole “I’m Gay” thing), he was quoted saying,
“I’m very gay, but I love women. I’m not attracted to men in any way. I’ve never been attracted to a man in my life. But yes I am gay, I’m so happy.”
He wanted us to believe that he meant happy? That he was using the archaic meaning of gay? The one no one has used in like, hundred of years? Sure. Uh huh, I bet. But then, after receiving numerous death threats and hearing GLAAD’s statement on the situation and probably starting to regret slapping that title on millions of CDs, Lil B decided to get a little more heartfelt with the whole thing in an interview with Vulture, when he said
The message I want to send is that it’s time to stop using words of separation, judging people, and losing lives over senseless acts of violence. I just want all people to be treated equally, all creeds. It would just make everybody’s time on earth easier. Any of my homophobic fans or any homophobic people, I hope that they can see me do this and it bridges a gap.
Aw, see, that’s sweeeeet. But I think it’s also bulls***. He has a song called “I’m God,” for Pete’s sake. He obviously just wanted some crazy publicity, and in the music industry you can’t really blame the guy, but don’t front, Lil B. We all know the reason you really titled your album “I’m Gay,” and it’s because of these: $$$$$$$
Try again to be genuine when you’re teeth aren’t made of blood diamonds.
