Is It Racist? Hang in There Obama Sign
It seems like, for the most part, peoples’ resounding answer to our “Is It Racist?” posts is “NO.” They think (and fair enough, everyone is entitled to their own opinions) that we’re being overly sensitive, and that not everything has to be a race issue. For example, most of you said “NOPE” when we asked if Mitt Romney saying “no one questions where I’m from” during a speech. And for the most part, you guys said “NOT RACIST” to the kid dressed in black face for a project on MLK Jr.
However, I’m not sure if anyone could possibly say that this week’s edition isn’t racist. I think you’d be pretty hard pressed to find someone that didn’t think this f***ing thing isn’t racist as hell:
Yep, one Wisconsin citizen named Thomas Savka thought it was just a fantastic idea to put up this sign on the side of the freeway for everyone to see, although now that he has been confronted about it, claims it’s not a vague threat on Obama’s life that’s wrought with racial undertones at all. No no no! Of course! He just really means that he wants Obama to “hang in there!” like the kitten in a tree poster from your elementary school counselor’s office.
Via Gawker:
“It’s my attitude for it,” he told Fox 11 News. “Everybody’s picking on Obama. It’s the attitude of ‘hang in there, buddy!’ It isn’t over ‘til you’re done kicking.”
Savka says the noose was merely thrown in to grab people’s attention. “That got your attention,” said Savka. “It got you to look at the sign.”
True enough, but what about the sign’s apparent allusions to the racist practice of lynching? “This has nothing to do with color,” Savka insists. “It’s to get people’s attention. If they’re taking that direction from it, they’re not reading the sign.”
My favorite part is the “till your done kicking,” as though we’re all so stupid as to not get he’s still talking about hanging the President of the United States. He probably thought that line over for hours, so proud of himself for thinking of a BRILLIANT line that the dumb liberal media would never understand.
Either that, or this guy is serious. He genuinely meant “hang in there!” like the kitten in a tree poster from your elementary school counselor’s office, and is just so ignorant that he didn’t realize the awful implication of a noose next to the name of a black man. I just really can’t decide which one it is.
What do you think? Is it racist?

The President is half white. But because I dislike him you accuse me of being a racists. I don’t care for Mit either, does this mean I’m a double racists.

No, but white Americans don’t have a painful history of being lynched just because of the color of their skin. Not sure what your argument is here.

I don’t think it’s racist at all but it’s really all in the perception of the viewer. Would we still be asking if it was racist if Obama wasn’t black?

What I think is such an utter shame is how the majority of CNN contributors and those on Fox as well, want to portray President Obama as an angry black man. After the debate, Tuesday night, the fat Mexican (Alex Castellanos) and the stark White flip flopper (David Gergen) intended on repeating the notion that President Obama “seemed” angry and bitter, yet you could see the searing hatred and obvious disrespectful sentiment in Mitt Romney’s eyes, body language and attempted cut-off attacks. Not only was Mitt Romney angry and disrespectful, he was cynical and very obtrusive, yet no one seemed to mention anything about that. He was simply rude as CNN put it. Ass clowns!
