If there’s one nice thing about the holidays being over, it’s that we can all start settling back into our normal lives at normal distances away from our families (unless you’re still in high school, in which case GO BUILD A SNOWMAN OR SOMETHING). Instead of being unnaturally smushed up against them at all hours of the day, forced to smell their outdated perfume and watch flecks of spit fly from their mouths and endure the fourth telling of the “raccoon in the crawl space” story, we are back to our homes with our space and our own couch and our own remote control for our own TV that we know all the channels for.

However, sometimes it’s good to get one last dose of unbearable awkwardness just so you can fully appreciate the joy of (relative) youth and its freedoms. Like, say, watching Gwyneth Paltrow drunkenly dance at a Jay-Z concert in the most mom-like way you’ve ever seen. No, Mrs. Chris Martin isn’t your real mom, but her rhythm-less swaying and general lack of shame might remind you a whole lot of when your mom proudly sings along with Whitney Houston songs in the grocery store like it’s her very own American Idol stage.
