Drunk Rapper Tweets “YOLO,” Dies in Car Wreck
There is never a reason to make light of a human’s death. Whether its a friend, a relative, or Osama Bin Ladin himself. So of course, the death of up-and-coming rapper Inkyy is nothing short of a tragedy. However, the way his downfall came to be is nothing if not a lesson to the young people out there who KEEP USING THE PHRASE “YOLO” AS AN EXCUSE TO DO STUPID STUPID DUMB-ASS STUFF.
“YOLO,” short for “You Only Live Once,” has been the mantra of many 18 – 21 year olds over the past year, and its underlying message, “do whatever you want cause hey, life is short and you should have as much fun as possible,” is dangerous and tremendously stupid. In the case of the death of 21-year-old Inkyy, he tweeted this message shortly before his death:
The Sun reports that immediately following the tweet, the driver of the 2005 Nissan Sentra Inkyy rode in (along with 3 other men) ran a red light and slammed into a brick wall, killing all four passengers.
It’s a sad day for the friends and families of all those killed in the crash, but it’s a lesson to other teens out there that while it’s important to enjoy life to the fullest, life is still precious, and can be snuffed out at any moment. The desire to be “forever young” is no excuse to act like you’re invincible. In fact, the quote you use to justify acting crazy says it all – You only once. Don’t f*ck it up.
RIP Ervin “Inkyy” McKinness. We hope your life and death are an inspiration (and a warning) to others.
