It’s been a while since San Diego decided to pass its controversial Prop D, which banned consumption of alcoholic beverages on the sands of our many beaches. It feels like just yesterday, though, because we are still pissed. Especially because the debacle that lead to that proposition getting on the ballot was absolutely, positively, no questions asked, ALL ARIZONA’S FAULT. A bunch of douche-y ASU kids got into a massive brawl on Labor Day of 2007 with San Diego lifeguards and police, resulting in many injuries and the conclusion that San Dieagans shouldn’t be allowed to drink on the beach anymore. Needless to say, Zonies (as they are politely named) are no longer welcome on our unfortunately dry sands any longer, and we are all still bitter that we can’t have so much as a beer while hanging out at our beautiful beaches.

After seeing this video, though, I am somewhat torn. This drunk woman is genuinely having a difficult time just getting out of the shallow shore break, and I don’t know whether to be concerned or laugh really, really hard. Perhaps it was right to ban boozing on the beach, because she could have been really hurt. At the same time, though, LOOK HOW MANY FUNNY MOMENTS WE’RE MISSING OUT ON.
