Happy Friday! This has seemed like an unfairly long week, hasn’t it? Just dragging on and on and on like a lecture from your Sunday School teacher. Long as it was, Friday is finally here and we can rejoice in two glorious days with no obligations (unless you’re that Sunday School teacher I mentioned earlier, in which case WHY ARE YOU READING THIS BLOG??). But before you head out into the 48 hours of glory, here’s one more story to enjoy before you go.

We’ve talked a few time about how other countries seem to be so much more open-minded and less-prudish about sex, like when we spotted Norway’s steamy sex-ed video or the safe sex vid from Finland. Turns out another Scandinavian country is making pro-sex vids too, although this one is for a more serious reason: the Danes are dying out!!

According to government statistics, Denmark posted a birth rate of 10 per 1,000 residents in 2013 — its lowest in decades. The nation’s birthrate was  9.9 in 1983.

Denmark’s perennially low birth rate places it with Germany (8.33), Japan (8.39) and Singapore (7.72). And the downward trend has left people worried in Denmark. Most couples say they want two or three kids, according to the Copenhagen Post, but one in five couples wind up childless.

We think it’s pretty impressive (and kind of admirable) that Danes don’t feel the need to pro-create like friggin’ rabbits, like SOME PEOPLE IN THE US. However, it doesn’t stop us from thinking this PSA about having more sex is pretty damn funny.

We can’t picture anything like this ever flyin’ in the ol’ OS of A. Especially consider there are still states that teach kids that abstinence is the only form of birth control.  So to Denmark, we give you props for realizing that sex isn’t something you should be ashamed of, and that you can put a sexy lady on TV without Satan arriving and imploding the world in on itself.
