Colin Kaepernick’s Mom Wants to Meet Him Now – What Timing!
Are you getting geared up for the Super Bowl? We sure are. Plan on heading back here next week for some football themed posts including party tips, drinking games, and the answer to the always asked, “should I bring my booty call to the Super Bowl party?” Wait, maybe that’s just me that always asks that.
Here’s a little pre-Super-Bowl week story that’s pretty interesting to get you excited. You know Colin Kaepernick, the guy above? The shockingly good back-up quarterback for the 49ers that kind of kicked Alex Smith to the curb this year? The one who’s race you keep trying to guess? Yeah, the one with the terrible chin-patch-hair. Well, he’s adopted, and has never met his biological mother. But as he heads to the Super Bowl and a level of fame few in the world will know, GUESS WHO CAME TROUNCING OUT OF THE WOODS TO MEET HIM?
YEP, YOU GUESSED IT: Heidi Russo, Kaepernick’s biological mother, has come forward and “really wants to meet him”. WHAT A COINCIDEEEEEENNNNNNNCE!
After 25 years of Colin “politely rebuffing” her attempts to meet him, Russo decided that two weeks before the Super Bowl was the time to go to the press and express her deep desire to meet the son she put up for adoption when he was 6 weeks old. “Don’t get me wrong,” she says, “I am not ‘coming out’ to share in any of the success Colin is having, I just want him to know I never stopped thinking about him.”
While it’s 100% understandable that a woman would feel a bond with a child given up for adoption, it does seem strange that she’d get herself in front of a camera to express this feeling when the son she supposedly cares so much for has told her he’s not interested in meeting her. What’s the point of talking to the media? To get in his head? Stress him out more and make the media question him more about an extremely delicate situation just days before the biggest day of his life?
Super cool, Heidi. Real good mothering.

25 yrs to late. Why didn’t she do this when he was 18. She’s looking to cash in on the fame. Good for Colin not to fall for this. Watch her go on talk shows. The way I see it if you give a child up for adoption you live adoption open to be found if they want to look for you when they are 18. You don’t go looking for them.
