Bananas May Prevent Spread of HIV
The amazing banana. High in potassium, delicious on cereal, and hilariously similar-looking to the penis. These were the only joys of the banana, up until recent study that may show bananas can help prevent HIV!
A recent study reported on by the Montreal Gazette shows that a chemical in bananas has been as potent at preventing HIV as two synthetic anti-HIV drugs on the market today. Apparently, the chemical, called BanLec, forms a sugary envelope around the virus, blocking its entry into the body.
Ideas are being thrown around in labs around the world to create a vaginal or anal microbicide high in BanLec, that could potentially prevent 2.5 million HIV infections in three years!
Disclaimer: No, using mashed banana on your nether-regions will not prevent the spread of STDs.
