A Quick Note
Man, yesterday was rough, huh? The bombing at the Boston Marathon has surely shaken us over here. Doesn’t it seem like people can’t do anything or go anywhere these days without someone trying to off them? I mean of all things, a MARATHON? An event that does nothing but bring people of different races, social classes, and backgrounds together for a day of celebration of the strength of the human body? WHAT ABOUT THAT DESERVES A BOMBING? (Note: obviously it was the large concentration of people in a small area. But still)
Also, the internet and social media, while being indispensable in times of tragedy for helping connect family and friends, does a really good job of showing you things YOU NEVER WANTED TO SEE (seriously – don’t click that link unless you have a REALLY strong stomach. Ugh.).
We at OBC and BCU want to extend our heartfelt condolences to anyone and everyone affected by the senseless act at the Boston Marathon, and give a virtual handshake and hug to all the heroic people who risked their lives to help those who were so horrifically maimed by the explosions.
If you feel moved by the tragedy, please locate your nearest Red Cross to donate blood. And whatever you do, DO NOT donate to any Facebook “causes.” They are not real. I REPEAT. THEY ARE NOT REAL. THEY ARE SCAMS.
With hope and pride in our hearts, let’s start the day. Shall we?
