‘What’s Your Number’ Trailer
I’ll be honest – sometimes I am a sucker for romantic comedies. While flipping through channels, I will rarely pass up an opportunity to watch The Devil Wears Prada or Miss Congeniality or The Proposal. I blame on the chromosome that also gives me periods.
Recently though, with movies like Bridesmaid and ‘What’s Your Number,’ above, starring Anna Faris, I feel like maybe film companies are just trying too hard to make women’s comedies work for guys. Like, look at this girl make a fart joke! Look at this woman who loves giving blowjobs! Look at this woman who’s more manly than her boyfriend! Chuckle-inducing, maybe, but they’ll never be show stoppers like Wedding Crashers or Old School. Just not gonna happen.
‘What’s Your Number’ could be a good movie, but it seems to play on the same overdone, played-out idea that women are just constantly on a search for a husband. And that having several “romantic” partners in your lifetime could potentially ruin any possibility of you enjoying fulfilling life. And that marriage is necessary! And that women should read Cosmo! AND A MILLION THINGS.
I’ll probably watch this movie when it shows 400 times on HBO, but prematurely, I’m going to say I hate it.
