Yea or Nay: New Wonder Woman Costume
There has been quite a debate on the celebrity gossip and nerd blogs recently about whether the new NBC show about Wonder Woman, starring Friday Night Lights star Adrianne Palicki, is HOT or NOT, specifically in the costume department. Many believe that the show is just trying to stay true to the comic book’s very American kitsch and aren’t trying to stray from the original, while others are touting the costume as “cheap” “worse than a Halloween store reject bin” and “the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life, look at that f***ing lasso” (paraphrased).
One thing is to be sure, this Adrianne Palicki is a VERY beautiful woman, and we probably won’t complain about seeing her fight crime while coated in latex. However, we have to agree that this costume is, if my vocabulary doesn’t fail me, banal, bathetic, common, commonplace, conventional, dull, everyday, familiar, hackneyed, imitative, moth-eaten, musty, overused, poor, set, stale, stereotyped, stock, tedious, tired, uncreative, well-worn, worn-out, that is to say, a TEENY TINY BIT cliché.
