Uh, did you know people still lived in Athens? They do. I just figured that entire city was a pile of rocks that smelled like democracy and olive oil but APPARENTLY that’s not the case, there are people living there AND they are the most flirtatious in the world!

According to dating site Badoo (um, what?), the city of Athens holds the most singles ready to flirt it up online. The average Badoo user initiated an online flirtation 25.7 times a month, far more than any other city in the world. Badoo analyzed 12 million flirtations in 200 cities, and found that while Athens came in a strong first, it was followed by Moscow, and then waaaayyyy down the list in the 50s came London and New York. EMBARRASSING.

The Lonely Planet Encounter Guide to Athens author Victoria Kyriakopoulous called the Greek capital “a seductive city, with a hedonistic lifestyle.” She went on to say, “Athenians love to party and they love to talk. Flirting and sexual banter are not just a means to an end but part of social interaction.”

Furthermore, we learn in the Reuters report that even back in Plato’s time, Athens held events called symposia, massive drinking parties where men and women danced and flirted, “among other things”.

So basically what this report comes down to is WHY AREN’T WE ALL LIVING IN ATHENS?!
