Orgasm Inc
Orgasm Inc. is a documentary about the business of female pleasure, which is a touchy subject, to say the least. The recent movie Blue Valentine nearly received an NC-17 review due to an oral sex scene performed on a woman, and yet blow-job scenes for dudes are like “PG PIXAR MOVIE? SURE, LEAVE IT IN.”
It’s refreshing, as you can imagine, to finally see the female orgasm as a subject willing to be discussed on the big screen. As of recently, the only time we hear about it is on like, HBO’s Real Sex and we all know that show is f***ing GROSS. They somehow manage to wrangle up every unshaved hippie in a 50 mile radius as their interviewees, and THAT is how lady O’s are portrayed. Great. Thanks HBO, real nice.
Orgasm Inc, on the other hand, is by filmmaker Liz Canner, who was hired by a pharmaceutical company to edit clips from porn movies to be used in drug trials for a product that claimed to be a FDA-approved, Viagra-like drug for women that was meant to cure something called “female sexual dysfunction.” After some time, however, Canner decided there might some ulterior motives from companies like the one that had hired her. The documentary reveals these motives, as well as many stories about female sexual health and the mystery of the female orgasm. It looks educational, interesting, sexy, and funny, which basically means you should buy tickets immediately for its release in New York or Chicago this Friday.
