New Decade’s Resolutions: Part 2
Alright, people, there are two days left until the new year, and it’s time to get those resolutions down on paper or laptop or damp napkin at a bar. And while our New Decade’s Resolutions from yesterday were concentrated on health and strength so as to survive what is surely to be the end of the world, we figured we should throw some in for emotional health as well, because hey, that sort of matters too. So, in between sets of deadlifts and sprints, take some time to work on your mental health, with these three resolutions:
I WILL:
1) Stop looking for ‘The One’
As a BCU reader we’re sure you already know this. Looking for The One tends to end in messy breakups, expensive divorces, or getting shot in the head by your husband during a weird sex fantasy role play. Stop actively looking for the next person you’re going to date/live with/marry, and you’ll find that you’ll be much happier. Also, staying out of an intense, long term relationship will ensure that you’ll cry less when most the people you know are eaten alive by mutant narwhals.
2) Enjoy alone time
No matter how much you love your best friend, your favorite person should always be you. So spend time alone, with a new hobby or a good book, and you’ll realize that you don’t have to be surrounded by people all the time. With the coming apocalypse, especially, it’s important to accept and become accustomed to the sound of only your own heart beating.
3) Get out there and meet people
Like we said in the last post, it’s important in the End of This Era to be as well connected as possible so people will share their rations of rat carcasses with you, but also, it’s just nice to have a wide range of friends from different backgrounds with different likes and dislikes. It’ll keep you well-rounded, and provide a barrier against the oil tsunami of 2012.
