Weekend To-Dos: Adventure Edition
Sometimes after a long monotonous week you just feel like you’re in a rut. Perhaps work was stressful or you’ve just been busy, so now that the weekend is here you want to do something out of the ordinary. Partying every weekend at the same bars, seeing the same people, and then waking up on Monday with a hangover and a miserable realization that life, while very linear, is also very cyclical and until you die or retire (probably die) you’ll be riding life like a Ring of Fire ride if that Ring of Fire was boring and awful but still made you puke?
Don’t worry, we got you, bro. This weekend, let’s do something new. This. Is your BCU three things you have to do this weekend: ADVENTURE EDITION.
1) GEOCACHING!
Grab your GPS device, a friend, and a whooole lot of spare time for this game that makes you feel like a pirate and Indiana Jones all at the same time. According to Wikipedia, Geocaches are currently placed in over 100 countries around the world and on all seven continents, including Antarctica. So, you know, if you have plans to go freeze your balls off and want something to do while you’re at it – check out Geocaching.com and get in on the fun.
2) ROAD TRIP!
I’m assuming of course, that you have or have access to a vehicle in general working order, with functioning air conditioning and heater and enough space for you and your friend(s) to sit comfortably for extended periods of time. If this is not the case, DO NOT PROCEED. There is nothing worse than being trapped in a small car with no AC with a smelly person in the middle of nowhere when your car breaks down. Nothing. Worse. If you are part of the first group – check out Road Trip America for advice and tips on how to do it. Remember, the best plan is no plan at all, so be spontaneous!
3) CAMPING!
Fall is a great time to go camping because it’s not bone-chillingly freezing but it’s not skin-meltingly hot, either. Camping in the middle of nowhere with a bottle of Jack Daniels, some grillables, and a friend (or a friend friend, if yaknowwhattimean), and enjoy the incredible silence of nature. Fishing, hiking, and campfires are some of the OG ways to have fun, so try Camping.com for some great ideas and campground reservations.
See you Monday, and happy adventuring!
