We at BCU love animals just as much as the next person. I once hit a raccoon with my car and cried for a week. But seriously, PETA has got to be the craziest bunch of loonies in the land! We all know they hate fur coats and want everyone in America to live on tofu and cardboard, but they recently came out saying they think that Punxhutawny Phil, the famous groundhog we obsessively watch every February 2nd for Groundhog Day, is being mistreated and should be replaced by a robotic groundhog.

Aside from the fact that the little guy is treated like a king (he has air conditioning in his cage! I don’t even have that!), they definitely don’t realize what happens to a tame animal let loose in the wild. Poor little Phil will be a coyote’s after-school snack in 20 minutes. Back off, PETA!
