Are OnlyFans Users Creepy or Normal?
Since the explosion of social media apps, it seems anyone and their mother can brand themselves a model – but never more than when OnlyFans hit the scene, and these so-called models could begin charging a fee for their (usually X-rated) exhibitions.
But who ARE the people that are logging on and shelling out cash to see images they could probably see on Instagram or PornHub? What do they they think about regular ol’ in-person hookups and casual sex? Are they like non-OF users or are they total weirdos?
Well, one researcher set out to learn more about this interesting subset of humans:
The participants completed a demographic questionnaire along with an assessment of sexual attitudes in which they were asked the extent they agreed with statements related to permissiveness (“Casual sex is acceptable” and “I would like to have sex with many partners”), birth control (“Birth control is part of responsible sexuality”), communion (“Sex is the closest form of communication between two people” and “Sex is a very important part of life”), and instrumentality (“Sex is primarily a bodily function, like eating” and “Sex is best when you let yourself go and focus on your own pleasure”).
“Based on the results of our study, OnlyFans users and nonusers endorsed similar sexual attitudes. I believe this finding is important because it directly challenges stigmatizing attitudes that portray SEM users as deviant, hypersexual, and sexually permissive. Ultimately, when it comes down to sexual attitudes, we are all more alike than different.”
Well, that was a pretty boring result, but I guess good to know. Your neighbor who pays to see Denise Richards in a bathing suit isn’t totally crazy – just has different priorities, I guess?
