4 More Foods For Better Sex
It’s Friday Friday Friday! Here in San Diego, our freakishly dry and warm summer has finally broken with a nice burst of rain, and we’re all trying to figure out what the HAYL we’re gonna do this weekend when we can’t lay out in the sun with a mimosa.
Luckily, the Oscars are this weekend, so we figure we’ll just be staying indoors, chain-watching nominated movies, and maybe hosting an Academy Awards party (topped with an Oscars drinking game, obvz). On first thought, stocking the party with nachos, chili, and anything fried seemed like the way to go, but then we came across this article over at Time Magazine that makes us think otherwise! With the help of Jennifer R. Berman, MD, the director of the Berman Women’s Wellness Center in Beverly Hills, Time gathered up some great-tasting foods that can help give you a libido boost. We present, 4 new foods shown to amp up your sex life!
(oh, and yeah, we’ve talked about this before. A couple times, actually.)
Arugula:
This spicy leafy green (which is AMAZEBALLS on pizza, pasta, or bruschetta) is rich in antioxidants and trace minerals, which Time says “help block absorption of some of the environmental contaminants thought to negatively impact our libido.”
Almonds
Almonds are constantly discussed by the health-conscious crowd as an important addition to anyone’s diet due to, oddly, their “good” fat content. But more than that, Dr. Berman says their zinc content“Zinc helps enhance libido and sexual desire,” says Dr. Berman. “We don’t really understand the mechanisms behind it, but we know it works.”
Strawberries:
I’ve always thought it was funny when movies/TV/media in general portrayed eating strawberries as sexy, since every time I eat them I end up with seeds and berry skin in my teeth: not so sexy. However, on top of being red (a color that is shown to increase arousal), the folic acid in strawberries may be tied to high sperm count in men.
Citrus fruits:
Lemons, limes, and oranges, OH MY! (Also clementines, grapefruit, and mandarins, too!) All citrus fruits, according to Time, are packed with folic acid, vitamin C, and antioxidants, all which promote men’s reproductive heath. That’s right – enjoy a strawberry margarita with a splash of lime and you’ll be on your way to long lasting intercourse and CRAZY orgasms.
