Are Chris Rock And Dave Chappelle About to Go On Tour Together?
Last night while falling asleep (at 9 pm. I officially caught the last flu of the season. Gross.), I put on Chappelle’s Show for a little pre-sleep giggle. It just so happened to be the episode featuring the hilariously edgy sketch about Clayton Bigsby, the blind, black KKK member. I laughed as hard I did the first time I saw the episode, and as usual, my mind wandered to what the elusive Dave Chappelle might be doing now.
If you recall, Chappelle took a widely publicized break from the entertainment industry in 2005, when he shocked fans by packing up and leaving to South Africa, claiming that his wildly-popular show “ruined his life.”
After his abrupt departure, Chappelle made the occasional appearance on stage, but never set tour dates or planned to come back to TV. Wednesday night, however, he and fellow comedian Chris Rock showed up for an impromptu stand-up appearance at the Comedy Cellar in New York City, and this AMAZING WONDERFUL EXCHANGE HAPPENED:
Later in the night, the two discussed the idea of touring together. “After next Tuesday, I’m free for like 11 years,” Chapelle told Rock when the subject came up. “I’ve got time between now and the movie [set to film this spring],” Rock replied. “By Halloween, I could do some dates.”
Holy mother of GOD. How exciting would that be? Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock, touring the country for a stand-up show that could potentially be so funny it actually kills some people. We will be waiting with bated breath to find out if this happens. DON’T DISAPPOINT US, GUYS, WE’RE COUNTING ON YOU.
