Music fans around the globe were thrilled this past weekend when the Coachella Valley Music festival finally dropped its lineup for the mid-April concert. However, despite nearly mass assumptions that The Rolling Stones would be headlining Saturday, rumored budget disputes instead lead to fairly unknown UK band The Stone Roses showing up in their place. Similar name, not-so-similar level of fame.

Many ticket-holders, most who had purchased their tickets nearly a year ago, were so disappointed in the lineup (which also features headliners Blur, Phoenix, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers) that they began selling off their tickets in droves, but like years past, the second round of tickets put on sale were gone within 24 hours.

As for us, well, we admit the headliners leave a bit to be desired. But the sheer number of fantastic underliners more than makes up for it. Take a listen to Passion Pit, Of Monsters and Men, Metric, Aesop Rock, Two Door Cinema Club, Hot Chip, Ben Howard, The Lumineers, and The Faint – just for starters… and we can’t help but look forward to reunions of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Modest Mouse.

All I can say is, I really wish Skrillex was going to be there. Or at least this guy with his headphones on.
