LovePalz – the Long Distance Sex App
Phone sex has long been a tool for couples who are apart for long stretches of time. Then came Facetime and Skype, allowing couples to see each other face to face (or other body part to other body part) and engage in some virtual sexy time. And now, a Taiwanese businessman named Oni Chen has come up with an idea that would take long-distance sex a step further, and he calls it (somewhat creepily) LovePalz.
For $95, a couple can get their hands on LovePalz, the gender specific, metallic sex toy (and corresponding app) that connects to your smart phone, which claims to be a “Wi-Fi-connected love machine that lets both the top and the bottom stimulate some sexy time.”
According to ABC News,
“The two gadgets — Hera, which is designed for women; and Zeus, more for males — produce sensation and motion “in real time” via an Internet connection.”
The LovePalz website enthusiastically describes Chen’s vision: a “streamlined” metallic device that will give “long lasting” pleasure.
“Even if your hands sweat, it will not slip away, and it is very easy to wash if it gets dirty,” says the site. “The device’s fully water proof design allows it to function perfectly in water.”
Some psychologists are calling the sex toy a “novelty” that wouldn’t likely help a long distance relationship, and could in fact harm if couples let it dominate their life and no longer value their sex lives.
Those psychologists don’t have much to worry about just yet, though, as Chen admits that Apple has yet to accept his app into their store, and that Kickstarter, the fundraising site behind many projects, has declined to take on his product for fundraising. Chen claims over 2,000 people worldwide have pre-ordered LovePalz, and now it’s just a matter of getting enough donations to get the ball rolling.
One suggestion, Chen. Change the name to something that doesn’t sound like a hippo-shaped children’s pillow. We’ll be keeping an eye our for your app in the app store.
