#SOTS Thursday
May Gray is in full swing here in the normally-flawless state of California, making this Thursday especially tough to get through. It doesn’t help that I woke up thinking it was Friday for some dumb reason, nor did it help that I ran out of coffee yesterday and forgot to get more so I am running caffeine-less this morning.
So it seems like as good a time as any to start our new Thursday weekly addition: Thursday Song of the Summer search, aka #SOTS (because we communicate via abbreviations and hash tags in 2012): a Springtime weekly blog post where we search for, you guessed it, The Song of the Summer. Although I’m fairly positive we already found the ultimate club jam when Rihanna released the video for Where Have You Been on Monday, we can still spend a few minutes every week searching for more hits for our summer iPod playlists.
This week’s #SOTS comes to you from a 16-year-old kid in Chicago named Chief Keef, who is currently on house arrest at his grandma’s house for an unlawful use of a weapon charge back in March. Although he was relatively unknown before his run in with the cops, he’s now got a remix of his song “I Don’t Like” featuring Kanye West himself, which probably means we’ll see this kid at Coachella in 2013. Kanye’s golden touch, along with verses from Chief Keef, Pusha T, Jadakiss, and Big Sean, has created a fun, expletive-filled jam that white people will secretly rap in their cars as long as the windows are up.
Check out this song below, but maybe not at work. NSFW, for REAL.
