This weekend, the stars were out in full force to celebrate the life of recently deceased jazz singing Etta James. The funeral for the soul legend saw performances by two great singers, Stevie Wonder and Christina Aguilara, who sang moving covers of her most famous songs for a crowd of mourners. Unfortunately, the latter performance was most memorable for its, erm, rather embarrassing mishap.

Clad in a somber black dress, Christina took the stage to perform Etta’s most famous song, At Last. Partway through the performance, however, a suspicious streak of liquid was seen running down her leg. Viewers of the video claimed that Miss Aguilara was leaking period blood, and the Twittersphere BLEW UP in disgust.

After the funeral, a source told TheDailyMail that the dark liquid was actually fake tanner that was dripping due to the nervous sweats, and Christina took to Twitter to say “Any person who wants to find something negative in such a beautiful moment should be ashamed. Etta would be very disappointed. Shame on people!”

While Christina may be right – people probably should have concentrated on the beauty of the moment and not a hygiene malfunction of one of the guests’, I submit to Christina that perhaps a Jersey Shore-level fake tan was not necessary for the funeral of a septanagarian soul singer. SO THERE.
