Derrick Rose Accidentally Says NBA Has a Steroid Problem
In the NBA’s biggest “whoops!” moment since Dennis Rodman went blond, Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is sticking his size 16 foot in his mouth after ESPN Magazine released an interview with him where they asked how big of a problem illegal enhancement is in the sport, to which he answered:
“Seven. It’s huge and I think we need a level playing field, where nobody has that advantage over the next person.”
Rose, after much uproar surrounding the interview, is now backpeddling and saying that he misunderstood the question; that he thought they were asking how big a problem it would be IF there was illegal enhancement in basketball. Re-reading the quote, it seems like it could really go either way, but ESPN has come out saying they stand by the answer and that Rose definitely knew what they were asking.
As BusinessInsider notes, it doesn’t really matter whether or not the question was misunderstood – considering that investigations have ensued regarding steroid use in baseball and football, why wouldn’t they look into basketball, especially considering the fact that compared to basketball players, most baseball players look like stuffed animals.
We wonder if this will be the leading step into investigations in basketball, even though we’re pretty sure no one would care either way.
